Why A Dartboard From Bullseye Can Be The Perfect Gift For The Darts Fan

Getting as a gift for a dartboard with the Bullseye logo will make a hugh difference to the person who is a serious fan of the game, especially when they had fond memories of Jim Bowen's long running TV show. For those of you who don;t know, the bullseye is the area in the center of a traditional dartboard, and it scores fifty points. It is rarely thrown for, because it is the smallest area on the dartboard, and some of the treble score areas score more highly and are easier to hit.

The bullseye has its own unique place in darts because it is considered to be a double and can therefore finish the game. The semi-center ring around the bullseye scores twenty-five, and the bullseye is considered to be double twenty-five. It is therefore the highest scoring sector of the board which can be used for the finishing of a game of darts. In the 1980's British independent television launched a TV quiz show featuring the game of darts which they called 'Bullseye'. The show ran throughout the heyday of traditional darts in the 1980s, and was so popular it had a prime time slot for many years.

The TV show 'Bullseye' was so successful because it appealed to the section of society where darts has its roots – the working class. The show gave its contestants the chance to win prizes, some of which were genuinely life changing. The contestants were always in pairs with one person answering questions and the other throwing darts. This in itself was a stroke of genius, in that it allowed both dart players and non dart players a chance to compete. It also gave club darts players a chance to play with a top professional, as there was always a guest player on the show.

The guest darts players, which included the very biggest names in the sport, would also throw darts to raise money for charity. The charity was always chosen by one of the contestants, making them even more involved. The show only began to struggle during the early 1990s, when the sport as a whole was in great turmoil. There are many people who have very fond memories of Bullseye, and it is no surprise that merchandise from the show is still selling well even today.

If you are a serious darts fan who remembers Bullseye, you can pick up Bullseye souvenirs of just about any piece of equipment used in darts. The bullseye dartboard with the famous logo can still be readily obtained, as can the darts with their distinctive flights. You can get a wooden darts cabinet with the Bullseye logo prominently displayed on the front. If you want to carry things even further, you can still buy replicas of the non-standard boards which were used during the show. The board with the eight segments which was used to win prizes is still being sold today. Fans of Bullseye can still recreate the show in their own homes, using the actual Bullseye dartboard.
